Dear Parishioner:
This Website has been put together to facilitate a better understanding
of our parish mission and structures and to enable parishioners to come into
contact with each other. I hope that as you read it you will find the
information helpful.
The Parish Council has chosen to identify
ourselves as "A Parish with a Family Perspective." We define family as an
intimate community of persons bound together by blood, marriage, or adoption,
for the whole of life. In our Catholic tradition, the family proceeds from
marriage-an intimate, exclusive, permanent, and faithful partnership of husband
and wife. The family is therefore not a collection of individuals, but a living
and developing system whose members are essentially interconnected. This,
therefore, includes the single, married, divorced, separated, and widowed
persons.
The challenge in our society comes from the fact that
diversity in structure, economic status, special needs, ethnic and religious
heritages and the influence of societal trends affect the roles and activities
of families today. Partnerships, therefore, need to be formed between families
and institutions that share family responsibilities. This is what religions and
parishes are all about. We want to support family life in all its variations.
We look forward to growing in faith together.
Sincerely,
Rev. Patrick D. Ryan, Pastor
